NBA Premium Play 01/27: Portland Trailblazers @ Los Angeles Clippers

NBA - 513 Portland Trailblazers @ 514 Los Angeles Clippers

Projected Line: 188 points

This is a home-home series, as Portland defeated the Clippers at home by 101-100 last night. Yesterday's game had 201 points scored in special conditions, as the game had a super slow pace with 85.3! Both teams had great offensive numbers, but this is very unlikely to happen once again today. Portland's gameplan was simple: take the game into a half court battle, so this is why the game had such a slow pace. The Clippers accepted the slow pace and the same thing should happen today.

Portland had natural problems in scoring on the inside against the Clippers's powerful frontcourt. We know that Portland is a team that shoots a lot from the outside, but in yesterday's game, they were really red hot from the outside with 11-25 3pts, which combined with 20-21 FT gave them a big offensive night! It will be hard for Portland to duplicate these numbers, as not only they aren't that good on their 3pts shooting (#26 in the league with 33.8% 3pts), as they will be playing on a back to back spot, with four of their starters having played at least 37 minutes last night.

The Clippers keep playing without Chris Paul and today's game ends a terrible span for them, with 9 games in 14 days and 5 games in 7 days! Their opponents know that without Chris Paul, the Clippers's half court offense isn't the same and so, they don't even try to run. Without a good ball movement, the Clippers aren't creating the same amount of quality shots, especially on the outside and this is why the Clippers are shooting 30% FG from 16-23 feet and 32.6% 3pts! Yesterday the Clippers managed to be competitive because they dominated the boards and pounded the Blazers down low with 56 points in the paint and 24-30 (80%) FG at the rim! I believe Portland will pack the paint on defense tonight and dare the struggling Clippers's perimeter to shoot from the outside. I believe in a low scoring game in here, so I'll be taking the Under on this contest.
