Charlotte lost at home against Sacramento, even though they took advantage of the Kings's poor pick and roll defense. The problem for the Bobcats was their poor spot up shooting, free throw shooting and any help offensively from a frontcourt player. On the other hand, Sacramento pounded them on the down low and won the game because of that. The Bobcats will now face Houston and considering the Rockets's high volume of 3pts shooting and the Bobcats's poor perimeter defense, Houston has a great offensive edge for today. In fact, Charlotte doesn't have a great rim defense neither and Houston also shoots a lot near the basket as well. Houston has been struggling offensively lately and they are coming from a terrible offensive game at Minnesota, where they shot 32.1% FG, 8-31 3pts and committed 20 turnovers. But that game was played on a very tough spot for them, as they were playing their fourth game in 5 days, while being also on a back to back game. Looking at their lack of depth, it is evident that every time the Rockets are in a poor spot, they struggle heavily on offense. The Rockets are averaging a 98.56 offensive rating on back to back games, but on games where they had at least 1 day of rest, they are averaging a 113.57 offensive rating!
On the other side, Charlotte will also have an edge on offense with their guards. Houston's backcourt barely defends, with James Harden and Jeremy Lin being almost exclusively focused on offense. Charlotte also had a very high volume on transition plays and Houston's transition defense is very poor by being #28 in the league, while allowing 1.22 PPP. As Houston uses a small lineup, it's possible that Charlotte will also do the same things today and this will only increase their offensive efficiency for today. I expect a super high scoring game in here, with both offenses having clear edges over the opposing defenses and therefore, I'll be taking the Over in here.
