NBA Premium Play 01/26: Brooklyn Nets @ Houston Rockets

NBA - 509 Brooklyn Nets @ 510 Houston Rockets

Projected Line: 204 points

Houston finally won a game last night at New Orleans. The Rockets took advantage of the Hornets's poor transition defense to score 20 fast break points with 6-10 FG. Houston also shot very well from the outside with 13-23 FG on spot ups. Curiously, they had little volume on the inside with 28 points in the paint and 13-25 FG at the rim. On the other hand, New Orleans had a terrible offensive game with 17 turnovers and 3-20 3pts! Greivis Vasquez had an off day and without him, the Hornets's offense collapses. The easy win helped the Rockets in saving his best players for tonight's game, as nobody played more than 37 minutes!

On the other hand, Brooklyn was crushed last night in Memphis, in a game where the Nets weren't mentally ready to face a team like Memphis and everything that I've written on my play on the Grizzlies happened. Brook Lopez had a nice game with 8-15 FG, but their perimeter was completely shutdown by Memphis's great defense: 4-13 FG from 16-23 feet and 3-17 3pts. Brooklyn will definitely have a bounce back game tonight, as they will be ready to play tonight and Houston is nowhere near from having the same level of intensiveness of Memphis.

Houston was needing a nice outside shooting game to have a confidence boost and so, they are coming in a good mood for tonight. We also have to take in consideration Houston's transition game that has scored 27, 22 and 20 fast break points on their last 3 games! Brooklyn's defense keeps being terrible on this area and they've allowed 29, 17, 10, 17 and 12 fast break points on their last five games, while being #14 on transition defense with 1.13 PPP allowed for the season, but with 1.28 PPP allowed on their last five games! This is definitely a good offensive spot for the Rockets tonight.

The Rockets are just #26 on post up defense and with Omer Asik completely out of form right now, we have a potential game for Brook Lopez to dominate. Memphis's perimeter defense is amazing, but we can't say the same about the Rockets's backcourt defense, especially in the matchup between Deron Williams and Jeremy Lin. Curiously, the last time Brooklyn had poor offensive game (73 points at San Antonio, with an offensive rating of 84.98), they bounced back in the following game with 110 points scored at Oklahoma City, with an offensive rating of 126.25!

Brooklyn's last games were always against teams that are outside the top 10 in pace ranking: Memphis #28, Minnesota #12, NY Knicks #23, Atlanta #18, Toronto #26 and Indiana #27. Houston is of course #1 in pace factor and the Nets have generally good offensive ratings (109.73) and poor defensive ratings (112.86) in games against teams in the top 10 of pace factor. I expect the same thing to happen in here, with this game being a shootout. Therefore, I'll be taking the Over in here.
