Both teams are coming from bad losses. Indiana was on a terrible spot at Portland, after a big game in Memphis and with just 1 day off with a big trip in the middle, they got crushed by Portland, while showing no aggression on offense. They attempted just 17 free throws and against a very poor Blazers's interior defense, they shot just 8-21 FG at the rim! Utah is coming from a clear loss last night in LA against the Lakers, where they also showed no aggression with 13-16 FT.
I fully expect both teams to come to this game with much more aggression, while trying to bounce back, so we can expect a decent number of free throws. Utah's defense has been very poor in protecting the basket by allowing 67% FG at the rim over their last 10 games and 73% FG on their last 5 games. Therefore, Indiana's frontcourt will have a good offensive edge tonight. Also George Hill and Paul George will have an edge in terms of speed over the slow footed Jazz's guards.
Utah uses a faster pace at home than on the road and they know that they have no chance against the Pacers on a half court battle. Utah has been a bit better on their outside shooting lately, Randy Foye is shooting the ball well and Indiana's perimeter defense is currently on a mini-slump by allowing 42% FG from 16-23 feet and 38% 3pts on their last 10 games. I expect this game to be a better offensive game than the current totals line is predicting and therefore, I'll be taking the Over in here.
