Projected Line: Memphis by 3 points
This isn't a good spot for Memphis, who had a tough game at Chicago last Saturday night that went to overtime and that required an extra effort from the Grizzlies. Zach Randolph played 42 minutes, Rudy Gay 45 minutes and Tony Allen 39 minutes. The Grizzlies are now playing an early 1PM game, so this isn't a good spot for them at all. Memphis also faced Indiana on an early game in December 31st, in a game where the Grizzlies dominated the boards, but the Grizzlies's frontcourt was well defended by Indiana. Memphis ended the game with 8-24 FG on post up plays! The key for Indiana's win at the time was their stellar defense and their good 3pts shooting with 12-25 3pts! It's also important to note that the Pacers played without George Hill in that game.
Indiana is coming from a home win over Houston, where the Pacers's defense was amazing during the 3rd quarter, where their closed out on the shooter amazingly and conceded just 17 points to the Rockets on that quarter. Houston was well stopped on spot ups where they shot just 6-16 FG and on transitions with 5-12 FG. Indiana's offense had a super efficiency on offensive rebounds with 8-12 FG, with a good all-around game. Paul George was the key for Indiana in that game by scoring 18 points in the first quarter and a season high 31 points in the game, while shooting 11-19 FG.
I believe the Pacers have a great defense and they will be able to stop Memphis's frontcourt once again, so the Grizzlies are going to struggle offensively once again against Indiana. The Pacers should make this game a very close one and so, on this early game, I'll be taking Indiana plus the points in here.
