NBA Premium Play 01/23: Detroit Pistons @ Chicago Bulls

NBA - 705 Detroit Pistons @ 706 Chicago Bulls

Projected Line: 179 points

Chicago is coming from a home win against the Lakers, where they were amazing in forcing the LA team into being a jump shooting team. Dwight Howard had just 5 FG attempts! Of course, there is also demerit from the Lakers is the easy way that they shot bricks, but there is a lot of merit from Chicago's defense that has been amazing in the paint. Their only problem has been in their backcourt defense. Today they will face the Pistons, that are on a back to back spot, after having a nice home win against Orlando last night. Detroit took advantage of their edge down low against Orlando's frontcourt: 54 points in the paint, with nice games from Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond and even Jason Maxiell! Detroit shot 22-36 FG at the rim and 6-12 FG from 3-9 feet. They also had a nice 5-10 FG in post up plays and as expected, they crushed Orlando with their pick and rolls with 6-11 FG on pick and roll roll man plays!

Not only the Pistons are on a poor physical spot for tonight, as the Bulls's defense will be a much tougher matchup. They are coming from facing one of the worst interior defenses in the league to one of the best! Chicago is #3 on paint defense with 37.6 ppg allowed, #1 on post up defense by allowing 0.69 PPP and also #6 on pick and roll roll man defense with 0.92 PPP allowed! Therefore, I expect Detroit's frontcourt to struggle on offense tonight.

Chicago will be without Luol Deng, who even though is a good defender, he is also a key player on Chicago's offense. The Bulls have been having poor offensive numbers lately and they averaged an offensive rating of just 102 over their last 6 games! Once again, Detroit struggled on defending transitions last night by allowing Orlando to score 20 fast break points, but Chicago doesn't run and they have just averaged 7.5 fast break points over their last 8 games!

The last game between these two teams saw both teams having an offensive explosion, with Chicago winning by 108-104, in one of the weirdest games of the season. The game had an incredible slow pace (83.5), but both teams were perfect on offense, as both Chicago and Detroit shot over 51% FG, committed less than 9 turnovers each and had a sharp outside shooting, with a combined of 13-28 3pts. This won't happen tonight, so I believe this game will be once again a slow paced one, but where both teams will struggle on offense. Therefore, I'll be taking the Under in here.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 705/706 Under 183 @ -110 / 1.91 on 5Dimes
