NBA 01/30 Daily Notes

Some notes for today:

  • According to 82games.com - Defensive impact (per 48min) Carlos Boozer vs Taj Gibson:

Bulls defense with Carlos Boozer ON court:       103.8
Bulls defense with Taj Gibson ON court:              97.5
Bulls defense with Carlos Boozer OFF court:      97.5
Bulls defense with Taj Gibson OFF court:            104.4

  • According to 82games.com, the “new” starting lineup of the 76ers: Holiday - N.Young – Turner - T.Young – Hawes has played together 101 minutes w/ offensive rates = 104 & defensive rates = 107 -> better offense & worst defense compared to their season average (not a surprise at all considering we are talking about Nick Young and Spencer Hawes!)

Did some “trend research” for NOH @ UTA game… searched for similar spots: what happened in the next game after one team lost at home by 20 or more points being the favorite?
  • Since 1990/91, Home Favorites teams 43-35-2 ATS (55.1%);
  • Since 2000/01, Home Favorites teams 26-21 ATS (55.3%);
  • Since 2005/06, Home Favorites teams 13-16 ATS (44.8%);
  • Last time it happened: this season the Bulls lost at home 97-120 vs HOU & next game they won 87-77 vs WAS but the spread was -10.5

  • Some quotes about the new look “non PG” offensive system that the Celtics will play from now on:

Jason Terry

"Don't get me wrong," he prefaced, "Rajon (Rondo) makes us the best we can possibly be."

(You can just hear that BUT coming, can't you?)

"But," he continued, "now, having multiple ball-handlers out there, it's just going to make us unpredictable. You don't know who's going to handle it. I think the wings are going to get out there and run a little harder. We should be able to play in transition a little more."

Doc Rivers:

"That part, honestly, I don't think it's much different," Rivers said. "If you watch our second unit, that's what they were doing. I don't see a lot of change there.

"We're already doing it a lot with the second unit. The first unit was watching it, what we were doing with the ball movement. There was no point guard system with that unit. That unit was becoming very successful. Now, the entire team does that. We did it once so far against Miami. Now, we just have to get better at it."
