MLB - 959 New York Mets @ 960 Washington Nationals
(Starting Pitchers: J. Niese vs E. Jackson)
The Mets will start Niese tonight, who is coming from a good outing in Sunday Night Baseball by allowing just one run in eight innings against the Braves. He's the class average pitcher, but he has been a bit better lately, as he has a 2.57 ERA in August. Already on this good moment, he has faced the Nationals in Washington and allowed just one run and three hits in 7IP. I don't know if he will completely dominate the Nationals tonight, but I'm certain he will make a very solid start tonight.
On the other side, Washington is starting Jackson, who won his last outing despite allowing five runs and walking three batters in 5.2 IP in Arizona. He has already faced the Mets this season and he struggled with command on that game as well. The truth is that Nationals' hitting has been saving Jackson from big trouble the whole season and he has just had two quality starts on his last eight games, while posting a 5.48 ERA and 1.579 WHIP during that stretch. With Niese pitching for the Mets tonight, I don't believe the Nationals' hitting will put him out of trouble this time and so, I expect Jackson to have a very tough night, especially when he keeps getting hit from homeruns and keeps having a poor command.
With Niese being a much more solid SP than Jackson, I expect Washington to struggle tonight in scoring enough runs to compensate the problems Jackson will once again have. Therefore, I see a lot of value on the dog in here and so, I'll take the Mets tonight.
