(Starting Pitchers: A. Laffey vs A. Sanchez)
Detroit comfortably won the first game of this series yesterday and they'll now face Laffey, who has been horrible lately. He allowed only four hits on his last outing against the White Sox, but three of them were home runs and the Blue Jays lost the game by 7-2. The truth is that Laffey has allowed eight home runs in his last five outings. After a good start, Laffey is now struggling and he has allowed at least four runs on his last seven starts. He is regressing and his FIP wasn't higher than 5 in just one of his last five games. With him struggling so much, Detroit will completely destroy him tonight.
Detroit will start Sanchez, who has struggled on his first outings in Detroit, but he had eight days off to rest and to fix some locations of his pitches before this start and so, I expect him to looked much better tonight against the banged up lineup of the Blue Jays. On his first start as a Tiger, Anibal faced Toronto and allowed eight hits, five runs and three home runs, while having a 3/3 K/BB ratio. I expect Sanchez to get revenge today and have a decent performance over the struggling batters from Toronto, while Detroit will pound Laffey big time. With such differences in terms of starting pitching and batters, I'll be taking Detroit in here for another comfortable win for them tonight.
