(Starting Pitchers: C. Hamels vs M. Fiers)
This is likely to be a pitchers duel between two pitchers who have been impressive lately. After some trade rumors and a contract renewal, Hamels is pitching amazingly by having 2.32, 1.76 and 2.81 FIP on his last three starts. Besides that, he has been historically dominant against this Brewers roster, as he has a .198 BA against them. Not even Braun (4-21), Hart (6-25) and Ramirez (4-16) can make Hamels struggle. Therefore, I expect another very dominant performance from Hamels tonight, who has been amazing lately.
The Brewers will start Fiers and he is coming from a very poor outing in Colorado, where he allowed eight runs, after not only such number of runs in a combined of his previous eight starts! This trip to Colorado was the first of Fiers' career and now, on a much pitcher-friendly park and against a team that isn't as dangerous on offense as Colorado at home, he may have a bounce back today. Still, the Phillies have some firepower and Fiers' confidence might still be affected from his last outing. Let's also not forget that Hamels is a much more experienced pitcher than him and with Hamels being so impressive, all pressure will be on Fiers' shoulders and he will inevitably make an error in a game where a single error might cost him and his team the game.
I believe Hamels will have another amazing outing and so, I'll take Philadelphia tonight, as they will have a clear SP edge tonight.
