MLB - 925 Cleveland Indians @ 926 Oakland Athletics
(Starting Pitchers: J. Masterson vs J. Parker)
The Indians will try to avoid getting sweep on this series today with Masterson as their SP. He is coming from a great outing where he didn't allow a single run in LA against the Angels, however he seems to have a problem with his command, but he got away with that against Minnesota and the Angels, even though he walked 4 and 3 batters respectively. With Oakland having a patient offense (#4 in BB% with 9.0%) and with them hitting very well on this series (.314 and .281 BA on the first two games), I believe Masterson will struggle big time on this contest, as the Athletics have regained some of the momentum they were showing a couple of weeks ago, especially when Oakland's roster is hitting .275 BA and .854 OPS against him.
The Athletics will start Parker today, who is coming from five runs allowed in Kansas City last Tuesday, in a game where he allowed all his runs in the same inning. He is now 2-4 with a 6.15 ERA in seven starts on his last seven starts, with the opposing batters hitting .309 BA against him during this stretch. With Cleveland also showing some decent hitting at times, I expect Parker to have problems today as well.
With both SP not looking in good form right now and with both teams showing good hitting during this series, I expect another relatively high scoring game on this series and therefore, I'll be taking the Over in here.
