MLB - 979 Seattle Mariners @ 980 Chicago White Sox
(Starting Pitchers: J. Vargas vs J. Peavy)
Seattle is currently having their best moment of the season, as they are 8-0 on their last eight games and they will start Vargas tonight, who is also in excellent form right now. Vargas is 6-1 with a 1.95 ERA on his last 0 starts and he is coming from an outing against Minnesota, where he allowed two runs and eight hits in 6.2 IP. He may struggle a bit more tonight than he had on his previous games, as the White Sox offense is a good one, however Vargas is very confident right now and with the wind helping him tonight, I expect him to have another decent outing on this game.
On the other hand, the White Sox are coming from a series sweep over the Yankees and they will start Peavy tonight, who is in dire need of a bounce back after allowing five runs and nine hits in a loss against Kansas City. That game was played on a terrible spot for Peavy, as he was coming from just 4 days rest and had thrown 124 pitches on his previous start, so it wasn't a big surprise to see him struggle against the Royals, who were onfire during that series. Now with 5 days rest for tonight and against an unimpressive Mariners lineup, I believe Peavy has the perfect spot tonight to perform a bounce back game.
With Vargas being in excellent form and with Peavy having a great spot for a bounce back, I expect both pitchers to have very good outings tonight, with Vargas limiting the power offense of the White Sox and with Peavy dominating the Mariners lineup. Therefore, I believe this game will have a low number of runs scored and so, I'll be taking the Under in here.
