MLB - 957 Arizona Diamondbacks @ 958 Houston Astros
(Starting Pitchers: P. Corbin vs J. Lyles)
The first game was of this series was a low-scoring affair last night and I expect the same thing to happen today. Arizona will start Corbin, who has been in great form and he'll really need to make a very good outing today, as the Dbacks are clearly slumping offensively right now (#30 in the league in BA this month with .217).
Corbin has been great since returning to the rotation on the first day of the current game and he has gone 2-0 with 1.89 ERA in three starts (1,10, 2.26 and 2.93 FIP in those games). He is left-handed and looking at the fact the Astros are the worst team in the league this year in batting against LH pitchers, I expect the poor Houston offense to do very little against a solid Corbin.
The Astros will start Lyles and he has just allowed two earned over 7IP on his last two starts. His FIP on those games was decent (3.52 and 4.52) and he isn't being able to win decisions mostly due to the lack of run support. Arizona may look a tough opponent for him tonight on paper, but they're the worst team in BA this month and they are surely better against LH pitchers than against RH pitchers like Lyles. Also if the Dbacks couldn't put the LH and struggling Keuchel in huge trouble yesterday, I don't believe they'll be able to put a solid and RH pitcher Lyles in a lot of trouble neither.
Therefore, I believe this contest will be very similar to yesterday's contest between these two teams and so, I expect another low scoring contest to happen in here. So, I'll be taking the Under on this contest.
