MLB - 975 Oakland Athletics @ 976 Tampa Bay Rays
(Starting Pitchers: J. Parker vs M. Moore)
Tampa Bay continues to be on fire since Longoria came back from the disabled list and they are now 14-3 on their last 17 games. To keep this run going, they will start Moore tonight and he has been in excellent form lately. He had previously struggled due to a poor command, but he has fixed that now and he hasn't walked more than 3 batters on his last six outings. He has a 1.46 ERA, 3.02 ERA and 3.75 xFIP in August and with the help of a rested bullpen (Cobb made a complete game yesterday) to help him tonight, I expect Tampa Bay's pitchers to dominate the Athletics' batters, with Moore getting revenge from the poor outing he had back in May against Oakland, on the worst moment of the season for him.
On the other side, Oakland will start Parker today and he has bounced back from three terrible outings with a shutdown of the Indians on his last start. However, Cleveland is currently #29 in OPS over the last 14 days, while Tampa Bay is #3, so the Rays will be a much tougher test for Parker tonight than Cleveland was. I believe his good outing against Cleveland had more to do with the inefficiency of the Indians batting lineup than great pitching from Parker, therefore I expect the super patient lineup of the Rays to put him in a lot of danger tonight, as he doesn't have the ability to strikeout a lot of batters.
I see a clear edge in terms of SP, hitting and momentum favoring the Rays on this contest and therefore, I'll be taking Tampa Bay to have another comfortable win on this contest.
