The Mets will start their ace Dickey today and even though he hasn't been great lately, especially in comparison to the 1st half of the season, he keeps getting a high number of strikeouts on his games. He had problems in Cincinnati, against the Dodgers (coming out of the bullpen), against Washington, in Atlanta and against Philadelphia. The common thing about these bad starts is the fact that these teams had already faced Dickey this season and they were able to adjust to Dickey's pitching and put him in trouble. Well, that's not what will happen with Colorado today, as from the Rockies' roster, only one player has faced Dickey before: Dexter Fowler with 4 AB against him. The rest has no idea what they're going to face and with the aggressive lineup of the Rockies will get outplayed by Rickey's knuckerballer style.
On the other hand, Colorado will start White tonight and he hasn't thrown more than 84 pitches in each of his last seven starts, while going 0-2 with a 5.85 ERA over this stretch. With his 45/33 K/BB ratio, 3.63 ERA, 4.65 FIP and 5.10 xFIP on his last four starts (always 4/5 IP pitched), White shows that he's an okay SP, but not exceptional and prone to some errors that will immediately put his team in danger tonight, considering the fact that Dickey will outplay the aggressive lineup of the Rockies.
With a very clear SP edge in favor of the Mets tonight, I expect the team from NY to very comfortably win this contest, as Dickey won't give a lot of chances to the Rockies lineup. Therefore, I'll be taking the Mets in here on the Runline. Double Dime Play!
