Latos) St Louis took advantage of the easy series they had at home against Houston and swept them, while Cincinnati is coming from a very tough 2-2 series in Philadelphia, with all four games being tight contests and yesterday's game only finishing in the 11th inning. For today, the Cardinals will start Lynn, who was having a Cy Young kind of a season until mid June, but who started to struggle since. He didn't win any of his last four starts and he is coming from an outing against the Pirates, where he allowed three runs in just 4.1IP. He is being very inconsistent now and he has allowing 3, 4 and 4 earned runs on his last three outings, something that helped him in posting just a 4.55 FIP and 4.78 xFIP in the current month of August. Against a red hot Reds offense, who leads the league in OPS with .840 over the last 14 days, I expect Lynn to struggle today. Cincinnati will start Latos, who is coming from four runs allowed in 8.0IP against the Cubs in his last outing. He has been having a good season with five quality starts in a row, however he has just faced scrub teams lately and he is coming for this game with just 4 days rest and 114 pitches thrown on his last outing. With him facing a red hot Cardinals offense, who crushed Houston on their previous series, I believe Latos will be in trouble tonight against a team whose roster is hitting .368 BA and .984 OPS against him! With both SP struggling due to face two red hot offenses, I expect this game to turn into a slugfest and therefore, I'll be taking the Over in here.
