Dempster) After yesterday's clear 0-8 defeat in the first game of the series, the Twins will start Duensing, who has been in great form and he is coming from just two runs allowed (one earned) in a game against Oakland, where he had a 1.26 FIP and 2.98 xFIP. He is coming from five starts in a row with his FIP always lower than 5.00 (1.26, 4.93, 2.67, 4.26, 2.43), so we are talking about a SP who is definitely in a good moment right now. He has already faced Texas this season and he defeated the Rangers on the road with just one run allowed, while being a +178 underdog! The Rangers will start Dempster, who has struggled since joining Texas, even though he is coming from a good outing against Baltimore, where he allowed just one run. However, it seems clear that he hasn't found the confident pitching that he was showcasing back in Chicago with the Cubs yet and therefore, he has also had some poor outings with the Rangers as well. Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see the Twins' lineup to bounce back today against an inconsistent Dempster. I don't think Texas should be such a clear favorite on this contest, as Duensing is a much better SP than Deduno is for example. I expect Duensing to have a good outing against the Rangers today, while the Twins lineup should be able to put the inconsistent Dempster in some trouble as well.
