NBA Premium Play 12/26: New York Knicks @ Phoenix Suns

NBA - 719 New York Knicks @ 720 Phoenix Suns

Projected Line: 192 points | Phoenix by 2 points

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

This isn't a good spot for the Knicks, as they played yesterday in LA against the Lakers, with Carmelo Anthony playing 43 minutes, Tyson Chandler 40 minutes, Jason Kidd 34 minutes, Raymond Felton 36 minutes and JR Smith 37 minutes! To make things worse for the NY team, Raymond Felton is questionable for tonight with a finger injury, while Steve Novak is doubtful with a concussion. Carmelo Anthony also had  hyperextended knee yesterday, but he is probable for tonight, even though he was limping a bit yesterday. With Felton questionable, it's likely that we will see Jason Kidd and Pablo Prigioni together on the backcourt and this will definitely result on a slow paced version of the Knicks tonight, with a lot of half court basketball. Without Steve Novak, the Knicks won't have their best shooter available and that's a huge blow for a team that is basically a jump shooting team. So, the key for tonight will one Phoenix, as the Knicks will definitely struggle offensively tonight.

Phoenix has been working well on their frontcourt offense with Marcin Gortat and Luis Scola. They are also #2 on cuts, #13 on pick and roll ball handler and #9 on post up plays, so they have some offensive weapons to put problems on the Knicks tonight, as the NY team is #22 on defending pick and rolls, #8 on post up defense and #16 on cuts defense. Phoenix has been playing well and their improvements on the perimeter defense have been clear. From a season average of 41% eFG% from 16-23 feet, the Suns have been allowing just 33% eFG% over the last few games, with their 3pts defense having also suffered some improvement (59% eFG% to 49% eFG%). The Suns have already lost at NY against the Knicks earlier on the season in a very early Sunday game, where Raymond Felton dominated with 10-17 FG, on a game where the Knicks were on a very good spot.

That isn't the case for tonight, as even though the Knicks are on paper in a bounce back spot after losing yesterday, they have a really old roster to be able to perform well on tough spots, especially when the younger players like Carmelo Anthony, Raymond Felton and Steve Novak are injured. The Knicks ran out of gas yesterday during the fourth quarter and with so many injuries and on a poor physical spot, I believe the NY team will heavily struggle on offense, while the Suns should be able to have a decent offensive game. I believe on a slow paced game (Phoenix has been playing slow as well lately), with the Knicks struggling on offense, therefore I'll be taking both Phoenix on a Single Dime Play and the Under in here on a Double Dime Play!
