This is a horrible spot for Brooklyn, who after beating the Pistons yesterday at home on double overtime, will have to play their fourth game in five nights at Chicago tonight. Gerald Wallace played 50 minutes and Joe Johnson 52 minutes yesterday, while Deron Williams was banged up due to a quad injury and Brook Lopez won't play tonight, as he is still far from 100% physically to be able to play a back to back game. Also their best shooter Jerry Stackhouse is also unlikely to play tonight. Brooklyn's offense is a great matchup for Chicago's defense, who only struggles on pick and rolls and transitions, but these are two kinds of plays that the Nets rarely use. Brooklyn mostly uses cuts, spot ups and isolation plays on their offense, with Chicago's defense being #19 on isolation defense, #2 on spot up defense and #23 on cuts defense. They could be better on cuts defense, but with Kirk Hinrich playing, I give the edge to the Bulls' defense against a tired Nets' offense.
Chicago's offense depends a lot from what Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer can do. Deng will have a tough duel with Wallace tonight, while Evans will make Boozer struggle in terms of gaining position to shoot down low. I expect this game to be a really slow paced game, as both teams like to play half court basketball, and with both teams struggling on offense, as Brooklyn will face a good Bulls defense, while the Nets have the defensive tools to stop the two most important players of Chicago's offense. Therefore, I expect a super low scoring game in here and so, I'll be taking the Under on this contest. I believe the Nets will make this game very close, even on a poor spot for them, and therefore I'll be taking Brooklyn in here as well. Deron Williams and Joe Johnson have a nice matchup against Marco Belinelli and a banged up Kirk Hinrich and that should be enough to make the Nets very competitive tonight.
