UEFA Champions League Plays 09/18: Real Madrid vs Manchester City

SOCCER PLAY - UEFA Champions League: Real Madrid vs Manchester City

***SINGLE DIME PLAY***

Real Madrid is struggling in the Spanish League but today they have the perfect spot to bounce back against Manchester City. Madrid’s head coach Jose Mourinho said after losing to Sevilla last Saturday that he “didn’t have a team” just to fire up his players for today’s game. Mourinho is the ultimate master of the mind games and with that statement he just created the perfect timing for the bounce back.

I’ve watched the game in which Real Madrid lost 0-1 @ Sevilla and the team looked tired against a pretty aggressive opponent. I didn’t quite understand Mourinho’s lineup especially with the option of starting Di Maria and Higuain because these two players played for their national country Argentina and with the usual problems of travelling/jetlag affecting them, they were simply terrible in that game (Di Maria was even replaced @ Half Time!).

On the other side, Manchester City is having some defensive problems in the Premier League. They have some terrific players but as a team I think that they are far behind from Real Madrid/Barcelona in terms of tactical stuff. Apparently, they will play with a double pivot formation w/ Javi Garcia and Touré on the middle and Garcia has some problems defending against technical players. I expect Real Madrid to dominate the ball possession and attack from both sides of the floor.
