MLB - 905 Washington Nationals @ 906 Atlanta Braves
(Starting Pitchers: R. Detwiler vs K. Medlen)
Washington is coming from a road sweep in NY against the Mets, while Atlanta is coming from getting swept in Milwaukee. The Braves will try to bounce back today with Medlen in the mount, who is coming from the "worst" start of the season by allowing 2ER in six innings. At least Medlen will be rested for tonight, as he had just six innings and 80 pitches, not because he struggled but there was a rain delay and the coaching staff decided to use the bullpen. Anyway, both Medlen and the Braves bullpen will be rested for today and they should have another good game against a red hot Nationals offense, but who is coming on a letdown spot for tonight.
On the other hand, the Nationals will start Detwiler who is coming from two starts where he posted a 2.25 ERA, but a 5.76 FIP and 4.95 xFIP, with a 3/3 K/BB ratio in both starts. Atlanta doesn't have a good record against LHP, but they won't use McCann and Bourn on the lineup today, with Reed Johnson starting instead who is 5-9 against Detwiler. In fact, Atlanta's lineup for today is hitting .356 BA in 87AB's against Detwiler and so, I expect him to struggle against the Braves today.
With Atlanta having a good spot for tonight, Medlen in the mount and batters ready to pound Detwiler, I expect the Braves to have a comfortable win today and so, I'll be taking them in here.
