Pittsburgh has a terrible spot for tonight, as they played a game in Chicago last night that started 3 hours and 37 minutes late due to rain. The game ended almost at 2:30 AM and they had to travel home to Pittsburgh, so they aren't in a good spot today. They'll face Gallardo today, who after a disaster at home against the Pirates, bounced back with back to back quality outings against St Louis on the road and Atlanta at home with 2.57 ERA/4.53 FIP/3.72 xFIP and 3.00 ERA/1.10 FIP/1.83 xFIP. His bad start against Pittsburgh was weird because he was coming with 4 days rest and that game was a day game, so he wasn't rested at all and he is the kind of pitcher who needs to be rested, as he has a 4.03 ERA on 4 days rest games and 2.85 ERA in 5 days rest games. So, tonight against the Pirates in a poor physical spot for them, I believe Gallardo will get revenge from that bad outing and have a good start tonight.
Pittsburgh will be starting Burnett, who is coming from a good outing in Cincinnati, with 3.00 ERA, 1.43 FIP and 2.17 xFIP. He has stroke out eight batters, but he keeps struggling in going deep in the games, as he couldn't even reach seven innings on his last seven games! Against a good Brewers offense, I expect Burnett to show some struggles on this outing, something that should be enough to give the Brewers the win tonight due to the terrible physical spot for the Pirates lineup. With no pitching edge, the Brewers edge on offense plus the spot makes me believe that Milwaukee will comfortably win this contest tonight and so, I'll be taking them in here.
