NFL Week 2 Premium Play 09/16: Detroit Lions @ San Francisco 49ers

NFL Week 2 - 223 Detroit Lions @ 224 San Francisco 49ers

Projected line: 50 points

If this game would always be tough for Detroit's defense, as they will be facing a solid and well balanced 49ers offense, the Lions will also be without their two starting cornerbacks for today and therefore, I expect San Francisco to be able to explore that with their much improved receivers corps today. Detroit has an aggressive pass rush and they should be able to sack Alex Smith a few times today, however the Lions have an average run defense that Frank Gore and the rest of San Francisco's running backs should be able to explore well today, like they did last season when the 49ers rushed for over 200 yards in Detroit. I expect San Francisco to be able to create danger to the Lions defense in both passing and running game, therefore the 49ers have all the necessary conditions in here to score 30 or more points like they did last week in Green Bay.

With Detroit having a lot of defensive issues that should put them down in the score, Matthew Stafford will be forced to take risks and he is definitely someone who has a big arm and a good receivers corps to do that with success. Stafford had a great bounce back in the second half last week against the Rams and he should bring this confidence to serve Calvin Johnson and the rest of the receivers in tonight's game against a San Francisco pass defense that isn't as impressive as their great run defense. The 49ers secondary is prone to allow big plays to good quarterbacks and Stafford should be able to explore that and make a couple of big plays today.

With San Francisco having a huge mismatch on offense today and with Matthew Stafford also being able to give the Lions a great passing yardage today, I believe tonight's Sunday Night Football game will be a high scoring affair and therefore, I'll be taking the Over in here.
