San Diego will try to bounce back today after a loss yesterday due to a horrible 1st inning and they'll be facing Pomeranz, who is on a good spot to fade him tonight. He is in theory coming from two quality games where he allowed 1 and 0 runs against two not so good hitting teams like Philadelphia and Atlanta. Still, his pitch count on these two games was awful with 19.2 and 24.0 P/IP, with that being the reason why he couldn't throw for more than 4 and 3 innings in those games. He has already pitched against the Padres and in three starts plus relief appearances, he has allowed the Padres batters to hit .341 BA and 1.000 OPS against him in 44 AB's! San Diego has been hitting well lately and I expect them to pound Pomeranz tonight.
San Diego will be starting Kelly, who has a great debut against Atlanta, but then struggled badly on his last two starts. The first one was exactly in Colorado, where he allowed 8 hits and 5 earned runs in 5.2 IP. But this was clearly a tough spot for him, as he was making his first road start on a hitting friendly park. Then, he struggled against Arizona, but due to allowing three home runs. However for tonight, he had 6 days rest and at home, with a nice spot, I expect him to come back to the quality outings in here.
I believe San Diego will make Pomeranz heavy struggle tonight, while Kelly should limit the Rockies offense, therefore I expect a comfortable win for San Diego and I'll be taking them in here.
