(Starting Pitchers: T. Chatwood vs A. Cashner)
San Diego has now four games in a row and also 17 of their last 22 games. They've been amazing with the 4th best OPS mark in September with .794! They'll face Chatwood today, who has been terrible lately. I know Colorado has a different way of using their starting lineup, but Chatwood's command has been so poor that he hasn't go further than 3IP in some of his outings: 2/4, 2/5, 4/3 and 3/3 K/BB ratio on his last four games! He has been pounded in some games, but he was able to survive on his last four outings, in games where he faced Philadelphia, Atlanta, the Dodgers and the Mets, four teams out of the top 10 in OPS in the current month. Now against a red hot Padres, I believe Chatwood will have a very tough outing today.
San Diego will start Cashner, who was limited to five innings or 70 pitches against Arizona on his comeback from injury. Still, he looked in form and showed some excellent command throughout the whole outing. He may have to leave the game early today, but San Diego has a rested bullpen ready to finish off the Rockies today.
Therefore, with a better SP and a much better offense lately, I believe San Diego will have a comfortable win today and so, I'll be taking them in here.
