MLB - 957 Oakland Athletics @ 958 Los Angeles Angels
(Starting Pitchers: B. Anderson vs J. Weaver)
Oakland is 3-0 on this series and they'll be trying to sweep the Angels on the road today. They'll start Anderson who has great numbers with four wins in four starts, while having 0.69 ERA, 2.10 FIP and 2.78 xFIP. However, there are some things that need to be said about these four starts. He had always 5 days rest between the games, but this time he has just 4 days and he will be playing an early game, so basically he had 3 days and a half of rest since his last start. Since he comes from throwing a season high of 108 pitches, I believe this will be a tough spot for him. His four opponents were Seattle, Boston, Cleveland and Minnesota, teams who are ranked 25th, 20th, 30th and 22nd in OPS of the last 30 days. On the other hand, the Angels are 5th with .781 OPS, so they will clearly be the toughest start Anderson has already experienced this season and on a bad spot for him, I expect the Angels to expose Anderson today.
The Angels will start Weaver today, who is coming from a missing start due to a shoulder injury. He seems not to be at 100% right now and this should be a problem against a red hot Athletics offense, who is playing with a lot of confidence and who has a .762 OPS in the last 30 days. With both pitchers likely to struggle today against two in-form offenses, I'll be taking the Over in here.
