MLB - 929 Los Angeles Angels @ 930 Seattle Mariners
(Starting Pitchers: J. Weaver vs H. Iwakuma)
The Angels will start Weaver today and he is coming from an outing against the Red Sox where he allowed five runs (four earned) and seven hits last Tuesday. He has struggled over his last three outings, but I believe he should bounce back today against a poor Mariners offense.
Seattle will start Iwakuma today, who has allowed just one run in each of his last three starts. However, his advanced numbers show that he has struggled a bit in those games, especially in terms of command with a 4/4 and 5/3 K/BB ratio on his last two starts. Those last two games were against Cleveland and Minnesota, therefore he will have a completely different matchup today against the much better Angels lineup, who is coming from a great hitting day yesterday against Felix Hernandez. Iwakuma has already pitched against the Angels in August, so there will be no surprise factor today and therefore, the Angels should take advantage of Iwakuma's command problems and pound him today. With Weaver bouncing back today, I expect an easy win for the Angels and so, I'll be taking them in here.
