Cleveland's offense will have a lot of problems on this game at Chicago, who will certainly want to bounce back after their blowout loss at Oklahoma City last Sunday Night. The Cavaliers had three nice offensive performances after the All Star Break against the Hornets, the Magic and on their last game at Miami. The pace of those games were 84.3, 88.8 and 87.4, so all these contests were slow paced games, in a clear sign that Cleveland's offense was very efficient to have such offensive production. However, the Cavaliers had nice spots to perform well offensively in those games: the Hornets and the Magic are really poor defensive teams (Orlando is #26 in overall defense and New Orleans is #27), while Miami was in relax mode and showed no focus on defense, something that the Cavaliers took advantage. It's also important to note that all these three opponents were all on back to back spots, so this was another factor favoring the Cavaliers in those games.
This won't happen with Chicago tonight, who not only had one day of rest prior to this game, as their mindset will be very different from the Cavaliers's last three opponents. To make things worse for Cleveland, Kyrie Irving is out of tonight's game and with this game being played on a similar pace of Cleveland's last three games, the Cavaliers's offense will have a tough time in executing in the halfcourt against Chicago's elite defense. This is why the last game between these two teams had offensive ratings of 96.2 and 102.9! Chicago's offense has been dealing with a lot of consistency problems and even though they will have a bounce back tonight against Cleveland's poor defense, the Bulls under Coach Thibodeau react to their big losses via incredible defensive efforts in the following game and this is what I expect for tonight. Therefore, I'll be taking the Under in here.
