This is a very important game for Portland, who needs to win this game badly in order to end their long losing streak, but Boston's defense is a tough matchup for them. Portland is mainly a jump shooting team, supported by their pick and roll game with Damian Lillard. They are super efficient on post up plays as well with LaMarcus Aldridge and as they are a jump shooting team, they have a high volume of spot up plays. The problem for the Blazers tonight is that Boston's defense is #1, #4 and #2 in the league on these three areas, something that will put a lot of problems on Portland's offense tonight. Damian Lillard will be defended by Avery Bradley, who is a great defensive player, while Kevin Garnett is returning today after resting at Phoenix to defend LaMarcus Aldridge and lead the Celtics's defense.
If Portland wants to win tonight, then they will have to defend better than they did on their last few games, something that I believe it will happen today. Portland's interior defense has been terrible the whole season, but Boston lacks a powerful and dominant frontcourt, as they are basically a jump shooting team as well. Boston is in the middle of a road trip and with the stellar defense they have, I don't see why they would want to push up the tempo tonight. They will want to play on halfcourt sets and try to win game by playing better defense than Portland. I expect this contest to become a half court court, turning this game into a low scoring affair. Therefore, I'll be taking the Under in here on a Double Dime Play!
