Detroit had a natural win at Charlotte on their last game. As expected, Greg Monroe dominated on the down low against the poor Bobcats's interior defense with 7-13 FG, 5-5 FT, 19 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocks. Detroit scored 50 points in the paint and shot 20-31 FG at the rim! Detroit's problems on this game were on defense, as they allowed Charlotte to have a nice outside shooting game with 7-17 FG from 16-23 feet and 11-25 treys! Detroit's defense has allowed their opponents to have an offensive rating of 110 or higher in four of their last six games. Their transition defense has been poor and after a great start of the season, their perimeter defense has also regressed big time. This will be a huge problem for them against a Pacers, who is red hot on offense right now. Indiana has a good spot tonight and they are coming from a good offensive game, so I expect them to have another great offensive game tonight.
Indiana is 2-0 against Detroit this season, with both games being low scoring affairs: 88-77 and 98-79. However, both games had special circumstances. In the first game, both teams were on a back to back spot and they had to travel to play the game. In fact, Detroit had played a double overtime game at Brooklyn the night before! In the second game, not only it was a back to back game for Detroit, as it was also their first game since their trade with Toronto, where they had already lost Tayshaun Prince and Jose Calderon wasn't still available to play. Detroit scored just 79 points in that game with 36.4% FG and 11 assists. I expect Detroit to have a much better offensive game this time, turning this game into a relatively high scoring game. Therefore, I'll be taking the Over in here.
