Charlotte is coming from a nice win at Orlando last night, but that happened mostly due to a complete lack of effort from the Magic during the first half that made them being down by 20 points at halftime! But as soon as Orlando "woke up", they played some decent defense and then suddenly, the Bobcats couldn't score in the third quarter. Charlotte was once again outrebounded and their interior defense wasn't good at all by allowing 54 points in the paint to Orlando! This poor interior defense will be very problematic tonight against Greg Monroe.
After the beatdown the Pistons got at home last night against Memphis, I don't believe they will have a similar mindset to the one Orlando had last night. They will want to bounce back and due to yesterday's blowout loss, coach Lawrence Frank was able to rest some of their best players, as Jose Calderon was the player that spent more time on court and it was just 30 minutes! In tonight's game, Detroit's size will be the key factor, especially with Greg Monroe matching up against Byron Mullens, who refuses to play near the basket, besides being a horrible defensive player.
Charlotte showed no offensive flow last night and they simply explored their good matchups against Orlando's defense. They will have a tougher task tonight, as Detroit's effort on defense will certainly be better than Orlando's last night. Curiously, the Bobcats won at Detroit earlier on the season, mostly thanks to a poor mindset of the Pistons for that game. Before losing against the Bobcats, Detroit was on a nice winning streak, as they had defeated Miami, Milwaukee, Sacramento and Atlanta. They entered the game against Charlotte with a "too easy" mentality and they got upset. This time, things will be very different and so, I expect Detroit to bounce back with an easy win. Therefore, I'll be taking the Pistons on a Double Dime Play!
