MLB - 973 Texas Rangers @ 974 Baltimore Orioles
(Starting Pitchers: R. Wolf vs M. Gonzalez)
Baltimore struggled in the first two games of the series against Texas because they faced LH pitchers, but when they finally faced a RH pitcher last night, they pounded Josh Lindblom with six runs, .303 BA and .910 OPS! The Orioles will face Ross Wolf tonight, who hasn't allowed a run out of the bullpen until July 2 and who currently owns a 1.95 ERA. Even though his ERA is great, the truth is that Wolf has a 3.61 FIP and 4.68 xFIP. I believe Wolf will eventually struggle tonight, as Baltimore is lethal versus RH pitchers.
On the other hand, the Orioles will start Miguel Gonzalez, who allowed just one run against the Yankees on his last outing. Gonzalez has been pitching at a decent level, while facing tough opposition, as he faced the Yankees, Cleveland, Toronto, Boston and the LA Angels in five of his last six outings. His main struggle is the fact that he is a bit fly ball pitcher with a 41.3% FB% rate and his 11.4% HR/FB isn't good. However, I believe Gonzalez will be able to limit the damage tonight as he is currently in nice form, while the Orioles should pound Wolf tonight. Therefore, I expect a comfortable win for Baltimore and so, I'll be taking them in here.
