NFL Week 5 Premium Play 10/07: San Diego Chargers @ New Orleans Saints

NFL Week 5 - 433 San Diego Chargers @ 434 New Orleans Saints

Projected Line: New Orleans by 6 points

This is an excellent for New Orleans to get some respect back after entering the season terribly with four losses in their first four games. After a couple of poor games, Drew Brees had a personal bounce back last week at Green Bay and I expect him to have regained his confidence back, something that he should use tonight to lead his team to another huge offensive game at their dome. They'll be facing San Diego, who has some clear issues on their secondary and even though the Saints will be without Lance Moore today, they still have a quite versatile receivers corps ready to crush the Chargers defense today. New Orleans also possesses a quite decent running game to help the team's offense and against an average run defense, I believe the Saints should also get some production out of their running game today.

It's obvious that San Diego should also have a good offensive game today against the poor Saints defense. However, Phillip Rivers looked terrible back in week 3 against Atlanta and he didn't have to do a lot last week, as Kansas City threw the game very early with a ridiculous amount of turnovers. Therefore, I believe Rivers is actually likely to struggle a bit today by throwing a couple of interceptions that should be enough to screw over the Chargers chances of winning this game. On the other hand, the Chargers running game doesn't impress me and I don't believe they will be able to give the team's offense the support the Saints will get from their running game in comparison.

Even though I believe both teams will have good offensive games today, not only I trust Drew Brees more in protecting the ball than Philip Rivers, as I also believe that not only the Saints have a better quarterback, as they also have a better receiving corps and a better running game. With San Diego's defense not being much better than the Saints defense, I believe New Orleans will outscore another good offensive team tonight, just like they have been doing since Drew Brees joined the team. Therefore, I believe the Saints will have a comfortable win today and so, I'll be taking them in here.

2-Team 6pts Teaser:

NFL Week 5 - 427 Chicago Bears @ 428 Jacksonville Jaguars
NFL Week 5 - 429 Denver Broncos @ 430 New England Patriots

Even considering the Bears will be on a poor spot today, as they are coming from a MNF win in Dallas, I believe the matchup favors Chicago so much that even on a poor spot, they should be able to comfortably beat the Jaguars today. Not only Chicago has a well balanced offense with Matt Forte back that can put Jacksonville's defense in trouble today, as the Jags pass rush is the worst in the league and so, Chicago's Offensive Line will have a rare easy game today. On the other hand, not only Chicago's defense will put a lot of pressure on the terrible QB Blaine Gabbert, as the Bears have also one of the best run defenses in football to limit Maurice Jones-Drew production today. If we add to this Chicago's high quality special teams unit, I see Chicago having edges over Jacksonville in both offense, defense and special teams, something that not even a poor spot can compensate. Therefore, I expect the Bears to have a comfortable win today.

This game between New England and Denver is certainly a huge one, as it puts Tom Brady and Peyton Manning going head to head once again. However, I expect the Patriots to have a relatively comfortable home win today. Even with some injury problems in both the Offensive Line and the receivers corps, Tom Brady looked very impressive last week in Buffalo and the Patriots continue being one of the most prolific offenses in the league. Their running game also looks improved for this season and I believe New England's offense will have little problems in putting a lot of points on Denver's average defense today, like it happened against both Atlanta and Houston earlier on the season. On the other hand, Peyton Manning should be also able to help his team in putting a good number of points on the scoreboard today, however not only he doesn't have the receivers corps that the Patriots have, as the Broncos' running game is quite inconsistent and they will be facing a Patriots run defense that looks pretty much improved from last season. In a game that will most likely be a high scoring contest, I expect New England's superior receivers corps and running game to help Tom Brady in getting the upperhand over Peyton Manning once again.
