NFL Week 4 Premium Play 09/30: New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles

NFL Week 4 - 229 New York Giants @ 230 Philadelphia Eagles

Projected Line: Philadelphia by 6 points

While most people are expecting the Giants to crush Michael Vick today, I actually believe it's Eli Manning that is going to have a very tough time tonight. I expect a lot of problems to the Giants offense today. They are coming from a very easy game in Carolina, where the Panthers were pathetic and basically didn't show up to play. But before that game, the Giants had struggled against both Dallas and Tampa Bay, first with the inability of having any kind of decent production against the Cowboys and then, with Eli Manning throwing some terrible passes that allowed the Bucs to intercept him in three occasions. Therefore, I expect the Giants passing game to struggle again today against a team that not only has a great pass rush to hurry and put pressure on Eli, as they have a great secondary to take advantage of the rushed poor passes that Eli will certainly throw tonight. The Giants will be without Hakeem Nicks tonight and if that wasn't a problem against the terrible Panthers, it will certainly be a problem against one of the best pass defenses in the league. In terms of the running game, Andre Brown looked good last week, but he will have to share the carries today with the returning Ahmad Bradshaw and I don't believe these two players will be able to cause problems to the competent run defense of the Eagles. Philadelphia is a terrible matchup for the Giants offense and I believe they will bounce back today from last week's poor performance in Arizona by putting Eli Manning and the Giants' offensive unit in a lot of problems.

In terms of the Eagles offense, it's obvious that Michael Vick is struggling, no doubt about it. But it's also clear that he was still able to give the team a lot of yardage against Cleveland and Baltimore, before getting literally crushed in Arizona. If we were talking about a game against the 2011 Playoffs version of the Giants, I would say Vick was going to get killed today by the Giants DL, but we are not. The Giants pass rush has been very unimpressive on this early season and they aren't being able to cause the havoc that they were causing in last season's playoffs. In fact, both Dallas and Tampa Bay were capable of having good yardage against them and put a good number of points in the scoreboard. I don't believe that's going to be different with Philadelphia today, especially with WR Jeremy Maclin back and with RB LeSean McCoy being a huge threat in the backfield to a Giants run defense that has also lived better days in the past. Therefore, even if Michael Vick struggles tonight, Philadelphia has too many options on their offense to not score a decent number of points against a Giants defense that has been decent but quite unspectacular on this early season.

With Philadelphia putting the Giants offense in huge trouble today and with the Eagles being able to have a decent offensive production even if Michael Vick struggles today (see their week 2 game versus Baltimore), I believe Philadelphia will continue their recent domination over the Giants (7-1 L8 games) and have a comfortable home win tonight over their divisional rivals. I'll be taking the Eagles in here.

2-Team 6pts Teaser:

NFL Week 4 - 209 Carolina Panthers @ 210 Atlanta Falcons
NFL Week 4 - 225 New Orleans Saints @ 226 Green Bay Packers

Atlanta keeps being undefeated on this season and they are looking rock solid on offense, with a spectacular Matt Ryan, a great receivers corps, a good running back and a very good offensive line. Their defense is also looking to be very confident and making a lot of big plays, therefore I don't really expect them to struggle at home (where they're very strong) against a divisional rival that is clearly struggling right now. It seems clear that Cam Newton is having a sophomore slump and their running game isn't being good enough to compensate that. The Panthers defense is also quite far from what they've been in the recent past and therefore, even though I expect Carolina to play much better than they did against the Giants last week, they won't have the quality in both defense and offense to beat Atlanta on the road. I expect the Falcons to have a relatively comfortable win in here.

Green Bay is coming from a very controversial MNF loss in Seattle last Monday Night, so they'll be fired up to crush the Saints today. I don't think the Packers offense is struggling, as I believe they haven't been effective on their early season because they faced San Francisco, Chicago and Seattle, three of the best defenses in the league. Now against the poor Saints defense, I expect Green Bay to have a huge offensive game. On the other hand, New Orleans is struggling big time without their coach Sean Payton and Drew Brees is being a shadow from what he did last season. The Packers' pass rush will put him in a lot of pressure and with the Packers crushing the Saints defense, I don't believe New Orleans will have an offensive production good enough to match the great offensive production the Packers will have today. Therefore, I expect Green Bay to have an easy win today.
