Projected Line: Pittsburgh by 6 points
This is an awesome spot for the Steelers to bounce back from a somewhat poor start of the season. They are coming from a bye week and thanks to that, they have now back in the mix S Troy Polamalu, LB James Harrison and RB Rashard Mendenhall. With these three players back in the field, they should be a clearly much better team than they were in the start of the season. On offense, Ben Roethlisberger has been in very good form and he has been helping the Steelers turn into one of the best passing teams in the league. They'll now face a tough defense, but considering Philadelphia's pass rush has been disappointing this season for a team that was #1 in sacks last season, I believe Roethlisberger will be able to keep the team's passing game quite productive today, especially now that they will an improved running game helping the team's offense. Pittsburgh has been extremely poor on their running game this season, but they will have their main RB Rashard Mendenhall back today and even though he won't surely be at 100% today and he will be facing a tough run defense, I believe the Steelers' running game will at least be better than it was in the first weeks of the season and that should allow Pittsburgh to have a decent offensive production today, even though they will be facing one of the best defenses in the league.
But what really makes me like the Steelers for this game is the opposite matchup between the Eagles offense and the Steelers defense. Not only Pittsburgh's defense will be rested and ready to put a lot of pressure on Michael Vick, as the Eagles QB has been very inconsistent this season in throwing the football and Pittsburgh has players to make some defensive big plays, especially on a very good spot for them like today's. Vick has been struggling in terms of turnovers and completions%, so I believe Pittsburgh will not only put a lot of pressure on him, as they will also cause him to have some turnovers today. Philadelphia's running game has been quite dangerous as well with LeSean McCoy, but Pittsburgh has one of the best run defenses in football and so, I believe they will be able to limit McCoy's production today as well. With Michael Vick being pressure by a quality defense and LeSean McCoy struggling to get through a good run defense like the Steelers, I believe Philadelphia will have a very tough day on offense today, especially coming from a Sunday Night Football win at home against their main divisional rivals.
I believe Pittsburgh has not only a massive edge in terms of spot for today, as they also present a very tough matchup for the Eagles to handle. They are capable of doing basically what Arizona did to them two weeks ago and therefore, I expect Pittsburgh to have a comfortable win today and so, I'll be taking them in here.
