MLB Premium Card 10/09

MLB - 921 San Francisco Giants @ 922 Cincinnati Reds

(Starting Pitchers: R. Vogelsong vs H. Bailey)

The first two games of this series went over the total posted, but they weren't typical high scoring games where the offense crushed the pitchers throughout the whole games. They were high scoring games due to late explosions, as there were three runs scored in the 9th innings, while in game 2 Cincinnati scored five runs in the 8th inning. San Francisco will be trying to avoid getting eliminated today and even though Vogelsong had a terrible phase back in August and September, he looked very good on his last three starts. He will be a tough matchup for Cincinnati, as he has great numbers against RH hitters and Cincinnati's rotation is mostly composed by RH batters. This is why Bumgarner struggled so much against the Reds, as he is a LH pitcher.

The problem for the Giants is that their offense has completely disappeared in the playoffs. The fact that they were completely outplayed by Arroyo says it all. Excluding a bad start against the Dodgers, Bailey looked excellent in six of his last seven starts, where he didn't allow more than two earned runs per outing. He has a bad split numbers home/road, but he is now living his best moment of the season and so, I expect him to have another quality outing tonight. Therefore, I expect a close game in a low scoring contest, so I'll be taking the Under in here.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 921/922 Under 7.5 (w/ R. Vogelsong & H. Bailey) @ -115 / 1.87 on Bovada

MLB - 923 Detroit Tigers @ 924 Oakland Athletics

(Starting Pitchers: A. Sanchez vs B. Anderson)

The first two games of this series were very close, with Detroit being up by 2-0 now, but this series could very well be tied at 1-1 right now. Anderson will be returning from injury and curiously his last start was in Detroit, where he didn't look good, something not surprising considering he was injured. He is a bad matchup for Detroit and the Tigers are indeed just an average team against LH pitchers, with a 26-25 record against LH pitchers, while having a 62-49 record against RH pitchers. Detroit also had a .724 OPS against LH pitchers, while they have a much better .771 OPS against RH pitchers. Therefore, I expect the left handed Anderson to have a quality outing today.

Detroit will be starting Sanchez today, who has been solid after a bad run on his first starts for the Tigers. Oakland's hitters are very aggressive and they allowed a lot of strikeouts in the first two games, but of course they were also facing Verlander and Fister, two pitchers with a much bigger strikeout ability than Sanchez. Oakland has already pounded Sanchez this season with five earned runs back in a game played in Detroit and with a clear bullpen edge and a good bounce back spot, I believe Oakland will have a good win today, in a low scoring game. Therefore, I'll be taking both the Athletics and the Under today.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 923/924 Under 7 (w/ A. Sanchez & B. Anderson) @ -105 / 1.95 on Betonline
