MLB - 961 Philadelphia Phillies @ 962 Colorado Rockies
(Starting Pitchers: J. Pettibone vs T. Chatwood)
These two teams faced each other yesterday on an explosive game, with offenses producing 13 hits each, but with the Phillies having a great comeback win by scoring the last six runs of the game! Philadelphia will start Jonathan Pettibone and I faded him successfully on his last outing at Philadelphia, where he allowed four runs in five innings. He has been struggling as of late and his advanced numbers show that he is prone to regress even more: 3.70 ERA, but 4.64 FIP and 4.59 xFIP! Over his last four outings, he had just a quality outing against Miami, the worst team in the league in hitting against a RH pitcher! On the other hand, he allowed four runs at Milwaukee, four runs against Boston and even three runs on nine hits to Washington! Pettibone is struggling against LH batters with .314 BA allowed, while having a 4.97 FIP and 5.17 xFIP against them! Even though Troy Tulowitzki is injured, Colorado was still able to have 13 hits yesterday and their lineup is full of guys who hit on the left side, ready to pound Pettibone, especially as this will be his first start at Colorado and his command is quite awful as well.
Colorado will start Tyler Chatwood and he has been pitching well since he returner to the rotation in May. He is being correcting his walk problem and as he is a groundball pitcher, he has a great GB/FB ratio of 2.84. His advanced numbers are also great with 2.26 FIP and 3.05 xFIP, so I expect him to dominate the Phillies today. With Chatwood containing the Phillies' lineup and with Colorado pounding Pettibone, I can only expect an easy win for Colorado and so, I'll be taking them in here.
