MLB Premium Card 06/05

MLB - 951 Pittsburgh Pirates @ 952 Atlanta Braves

(Starting Pitchers: W. Rodriguez vs J. Teheran)

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 951 Pittsburgh Pirates ML (w/ W. Rodriguez) @ +114 / 2.14 on Betonline

MLB - 957 Colorado Rockies @ 958 Cincinnati Reds

(Starting Pitchers: J. Garland vs P. Villarreal)

It has been rumored that sooner or later Jon Garland will eventually be demoted from Colorado's lineup. The truth is that Garland's control keeps being a complete mess, with 1/3, 2/4 and 0/1 K/BB on his last three outings. Cincinnati has a patient lineup by being #3 in the league on BB% with 9.9%, so Garland will heavily struggle tonight on control and consequently on his whole performance. Therefore, I'll be taking the Reds to go Over their team total tonight.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 958 Cincinnati Reds Team Total Over 4.5 (w/ J. Garland) @ -125 / 1.80 on 5Dimes

MLB - 961 San Diego Padres @ 962 Los Angeles Dodgers

(Starting Pitchers: J. Marquis vs C. Kershaw)

It's almost a miracle how Jason Marquis has been able to avoid a big damage on his outings. Look at his K/BB ratios on his last four starts: 6/4, 2/4, 3/4 and 3/4! So, no wonder that his advanced numbers are much worse than his 3.82 ERA: 5.94 FIP and 4.90 xFIP! Marquis has already faced the Dodgers twice this season and he did well in both games, with 1.17 ERA, 2.54 FIP and 4.22 xFIP & 3.60 ERA, 6.06 FIP and 5.18 xFIP! However, it's important to note that both starts were in April and that the Dodgers were #24 in the league on hitting with .691 OPS during that month, while their offense is now playing much better by being #10 in the league with .757 OPS over the last 14 days! Therefore, I expect the Dodgers to put Marquis in trouble tonight.

On the other hand, Clayton Kershaw allowed three runs and eight hits in seven innings against Colorado on his last outing. Kershaw survived this outing at Colorado, where pitchers tend to heavily struggle against the Rockies' lineup. San Diego is #25 this season on hitting against LH pitchers, with just .239 BA on their last two games. Curiously, Kershaw struggled in an outing against the Padres earlier on the season with three homeruns, so this is a great revenge spot for him. I expect an easy win for the LA team tonight, so I'll be taking them on the runline tonight.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 962 Los Angeles Dodgers RL -1.5 (w/ C. Kershaw) @ +105 / 2.05 on 5Dimes

MLB - 967 Tampa Bay Rays @ 968 Detroit Tigers

(Starting Pitchers: A. Cobb vs D. Fister)

This will be an interesting contest, as both teams have been crushing LH pitchers lately with .333 and .282 BA on their last 10 games, but they have been struggling against RH pitchers at the same time, with the Rays hitting just .214 BA and the Tigers .239 BA! Cobb seems to be physically at 100% once again and he is an excellent ground ball pitcher. Detroit's lineup is of course very good, but the truth is that Cobb is coming from facing the Yankees, Toronto and Boston, three outings where he was great with just 2, 1 and 0 runs allowed.

Detroit will be starting Doug Fister tonight and he is coming from dominating the Pirates, with no runs allowed in seven innings, while having a season high 12 strikeouts! He threw 116 pitches on that outing, but he had five days of rest for tonight's game, so he should be fine. Fister has similar numbers to Cobb's stats, as he is also a ground ball pitcher, who rarely walks batters. With both teams struggling against RH pitchers and with both Cobb and Fister being currently in nice form, I expect them to have nice outings, turning this game into a low scoring one. Therefore, I'll be taking the Under in here,

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 967/968 Under 8 (w/ A. Cobb & D. Fister) @ +100 / 2.00 on Bookmaker

MLB - 969 Texas Rangers @ 970 Boston Red Sox

(Starting Pitchers: A. Ogando vs J. Lackey)

Boston's offense has been amazing lately, with a BA higher than .300 in four of their last five games and a ridiculously good .350 BA on their last 10 games versus a RH pitcher! The Red Sox will face Alexi Ogando tonight, who is coming back from a biceps injury. This is problematic for the Rangers, as they used their bullpen a lot yesterday, so if Ogando struggles early on the game or lacks the stamina to go deep, Texas will have a very big problem on their pitching, especially against a super red hot Red Sox's lineup.

Boston will start John Lackey, who has been excellent lately, even though he has been curiously suffering from a lack of run support. One of Lackey's rare poor outings this season was exactly against Texas, but he has improved since and he has in here a good revenge spot tonight, especially with some good run support from a red hot Red Sox lineup. I see Boston having a comfortable win tonight, so I'll be taking them in here tonight.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 970 Boston Red Sox ML (w/ J. Lackey) @ -125 / 1.80 on Bovada
