MLB Premium Play 05/22: Arizona Diamondbacks @ Colorado Rockies

MLB - 955 Arizona Diamondbacks @ 956 Colorado Rockies

(Starting Pitchers: T. Cahill vs J. De La Rosa)

Yesterday Colorado took a nice lead, but they allowed Arizona to comeback, just to beat them anyway on extra innings. Trevor Cahill is coming from a strong performance last Friday, where he allowed just one run on five hits, but he walked four batters on his start against Miami. Cahill is then coming from a nice start and he has been impressive with 1, 1, 2, 1 and 1 runs allowed on his last five outings, but his command has some issues. He had a 4/4 K/BB ratio against Miami, while he had a 5/4 and a 2/3 prior to that. That's a 11/11 K/BB ratio on his last three outings! The worst part for Cahill was that these three starts were against Miami, Philadelphia and the LA Dodgers, three teams that are #28, #29 and #30 in hitting against RH pitchers this season! He has already played at Colorado this season and he was really lucky. He threw 105 pitches in just 5 innings, he walked 4 batters, but he allowed just 1 run! Of course, the advanced numbers were much worse than his ERA in that outing: 1.80 ERA, 3.63 FIP and 3.63 xFIP! Now I expect the Rockies to put Cahill in some trouble today.

On the other hand, Arizona is much weaker on offense against LH pitchers (#22) than against RH pitchers (#11)! This is easily explained with the fact that only Goldschmidt is a RH batter from their top hitters. Jorge De La Rosa dominated the Cardinals on the road, as he had a no-hitter until the 7th inning, while he got pounded against San Francisco with a 9.00 ERA, but a 3.23 FIP and 4.67 xFIP! Just like Cahill, he has already faced the Dbacks twice this season and De La Rosa looked quite good in both outings. I expect the same to happen today, with him helping his team in getting another nice home win today.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 956 Colorado Rockies ML (w/ J. De La Rosa) @ -128 / 1.78 on 5Dimes
