A.J. Burnett is the NL leader in strikeouts with 72 and he has a phenomenal 31.6% K% rate right now! He is crushing the RH batters by allowing just .152 BA, 1.67 FIP and 1.85 xFIP against them! These are bad news for the Astros, as they are #28 in hitting against RH pitchers with .665 OPS and .199 BA on their last 10 games. They also have an absurd 27% K% against RH pitchers this season, so they will get pounded by Burnett.
On the other side, Eric Bedard is yet to face Pittsburgh, but the Pirates know him well because he pitched for them last season. Nevertheless, Bedard has been horrible lately with terrible pitch counts, with 18.0, 22.5, 30.3 and 18.8 P/IP on his last four starts. Thanks to that, he can't go deep on his outings and so their bullpen needs to go early into action and this is bad news for them. With Burnett dominating and Bedard struggling, I expect an easy win for Pittsburgh today.
