MLB - 951 Milwaukee Brewers @ 952 Pittsburgh Pirates

(Starting Pitchers: K. Lohse vs J. Locke)

Pittsburgh started Burnett and he got pounded because he had brutal pitch counts on his last two starts and Milwaukee took advantage of that. For tonight's game, the Brewers will start Kyle Lohse and he had an extra day of rest for today, so we can expect it to show a good effort to bounce back after two poor outings. It's important to note however that these outings were against Texas and St Louis, two good offensive teams. Texas is #3 in OPS vs RHP, St Louis is #10, while Pittsburgh is just #17. Lohse got burned by homeruns in those games, but tonight's weather won't allow that to happen tonight.

On the other side, Milwaukee is the #1 offense in the league vs LHP with .822 OPS! Jeff Locke might look impressive on paper with a 1.50 ERA on his last four starts, but with a 19/22 K/BB ratio and a .219 BABIP predicts future struggles. Those four outings were against the Mets, Washington, St Louis and Philadelphia, four teams who are #20, #30, #29 and #26 vs LHP this season. Now against the #1 team in hitting against LHP, I expect him to get pounded tonight. Therefore, we have good value to take the Brewers in here.

MLB - 965 Seattle Mariners @ 966 New York Yankees

(Starting Pitchers: F. Hernandez vs C. Sabathia)

We have a great spot for Seattle in here. They are 6-3 on their last 9 games and they won their last series against Oakland. They had a day off and now they will start a new series at NY against the Yankees. On the other hand, the NY played a doubleheader yesterday at Cleveland, so their physical spot for tonight is quite poor. Felix Hernandez has been great and he has pitched for eight innings in any of his last three outings, while showing a 19/2 K/BB ratio. He has always great numbers against the Yankees and things won't be different on this spot.

So, the key in here will be what C.C. Sabathia will be able to do. Seattle's offense has been hitting well against LHP with a .291 BA on their last 10 games. They are indeed #13 on OPS against LHP this season, so they are decent in hitting against LH pitchers. Sabathia's problem this season has been the homeruns and the Mariners have a power offense to take advantage of that. Therefore, I see nice value on the Mariners tonight.
