New Orleans is coming from a game where they played well in the first half in Memphis, mostly thanks to some easy mindset and low effort from the Grizzlies. Then, in the third quarter, Memphis put pressure on the opposing ball handler and New Orleans committed a lot of turnovers, ending the game with 24 TO's. The Hornets had problems in stop the cuts from the Grizzlies, allowing them to shoot 7-11 FG on this kind of plays. Also note that without Kaman and Landry, the Hornets frontcourt gets clearly weaker and Memphis took advantage of that.
On the other hand, Houston is coming from a loss in Dallas, where they led the game for most of the time. Offensively, the Rockets did better than I expected and especially they had edges that they will surely have once again today. With Dragic, the Rockets were a very quick team and easily attacked Dallas with transition plays. This as their game plan and Houston ended the game with 22 fast break points, while shooting 7-9 FG in transition. They also had an edge in boards with 32-26 in offensive rebound rates and they were excellent in shooting on offensive rebounds with 7-9 FG!
With the Hornets having an undersized frontcourt and heavily struggling on their transition defense, Houston will have a clear edge. This is a super spot for Houston, who finally has a game against a lowly team after facing winning teams for 5 games in a row. Houston will have a clear edge tonight in terms of rebounding, offense and spot and therefore, I expect them to outplay the Hornets today and have an easy win today. Therefore, I'll be taking the Rockets in here.
