Utah was coming from a big win at Houston and they had yesterday a game in New Orleans, where early on the season they had lost in a similar spot, after getting a big win in Memphis. Utah was therefore warned for the tricky spot, but they still lost 11 points against the lowly Hornets! Their loss was not only due to lack of effort, as in fact Millsap played banged up, but mostly due to the lack of quality from their backcourt. Millsap was still the team's best player despite a wrist injury and shot 11-21 FG, while Big Al shot 8-13 FG. However, the rest of the team shot a combined of 14-39 FG! 35% FG! That lack of quality in the backcourt was visible in both ends of the floor, as Utah shot 1-14 FG from 16-23 feet and 2-11 3pts! On the other hand, Eric Gordon who is still lacking body shape shot 11-18 FG!
Today against Memphis, Gasol and Randolph will be a tough matchup for Big Al and Millsap, while the Grizzlies will have a huge backcourt edge over the Jazz. Utah doesn't put pressure on the ball handler and so I expect them to have a lot of problems today against Memphis! With Utah leading the series by 2-0, I expect Memphis to come fired up for this game and to get a huge win over the struggling Jazz. Therefore, I'll be taking Memphis in here.
