Minnesota will start Samuel Deduno tonight, who has been struggling with shoulder and biceps injuries. Deduno reported a sore shoulder after Sunday's start and he was examined by doctors, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "It started behind the shoulder a couple weeks ago, but I could handle that," Deduno said. "Now it's in the front. I felt it a few days ago. Today, I didn't feel good. In the bullpen and during the game, I didn't feel strong."
This may be why Deduno is coming from three poor starts in a row! One of these games was at Cleveland, where he allowed four earned runs, while having a 10/5 K/BB ratio. The Indians had a rest day yesterday and they are a poor matchup for Deduno, as they are patient by being #5 in the league with a 8.9% BB% this season, while having a 12.1% BB% (#2) over the past week.
Cleveland will start Ubaldo Jimenez, who allowed just one hits and no runs against Oakland in 5.2 innings last Saturday. Ubaldo had a nice bounce back with back to back good outings against Oakland and the LA Angels, after a disastrous start at Miami. Cleveland has a clear SP edge in here, while I expect Minnesota to have a letdown tonight, after having beaten Verlander yesterday. Therefore, I'll be taking the Indians in here.
