This early game won't be a very comfortable spot for neither team, but especially for Atlanta, who had a late game on Saturday in Portland at 10:30 PM EST and then, they had to travel back to Chicago to play this early contest against the Bulls on a bounce back spot! Chicago is coming from a ridiculous home loss against the Nets, where their defense and rebounding were terrible, even though New Jersey ended the game with just 40% FG! The main problems for the Bulls were the 16 offensive rebounds the Nets had against the supposedly best rebounding team in the league! New Jersey shot 5-13 FG on offensive rebound plays, too many chances allowed by the Bulls! Besides that, the Nets scored 18 fast break points, with 8-10 FG transition and 1.75 PPP! New Jersey had natural problems to score on the inside against the Bulls, with 11-28 FG at the rim, but their 3pts shooting was sharp with 10-22 3pts! Chicago kept messing up in doing the close outs, besides having a terrible mindset approach to the game. The Nets shot almost 70% FG in the first quarter and ending the quarter with a 34-19 lead! So, today we can expect the Bulls to have a clear bounce back in terms of effort!
On the other side, Atlanta is struggling from the outside lately with 31% FG from 16-23 feet and 34% on 3pts over the last 5 games. Considering the tough spot and the defensive bounce back from the Bulls today, this game won't be easy for them at all! They have no interior game, so the perimeter defense of the Bulls will be highly tested today. I predict problems for the Hawks offense! On the other hand, the Bulls offense depend a lot from Rose, who might play today. Even though they have no inside offensive threat, Atlanta defends quite well at the rim, part of their defensive system. Chicago is struggling offensively on the backcourt, so I expect the Bulls to have offensive problems as well on this game. Looking at the struggles I expect both teams to have today, I'll be taking the under in here.
