Memphis is coming from a nice win over the Rockets, where their good offense was the key. They shot 48% FG, even though they shot just 9-16 FG at the rim, so their outside game was on fire with 11-25 FG from 16-23 feet and 5-9 3pts! All starters played more than 30 minutes, but none played more than 40 minutes and defensively, they caused a lot of problems to the Rockets by causing 18 turnovers, which 8 of them were steals. They took advantage of the bad outside game from Houston with 5-20 FG from 16-23 feet and 3-10 3pts!
The Grizzlies will now face the Nets and their offense will have in New Jersey a good matchup. The Nets rim defense is bad by allowing 66% FG this season and 68% on their last 5 games. New Jersey is a terrible defensive team, they are allowing 15.2 fast break points per game over their last 5 games and they are also #29 in defending transition plays with 1.22 PPP allowed. All of these areas are exactly where Memphis likes to pound on offense. On the other side, the Nets had 3 days off to rest for this game and they have tools on offense to cause problems to the Grizzlies defense. New Jersey is a team with a good P&R ball and on spot up plays, as 30% of their shots are 3pts shots and considering the fact that the Grizzlies defense is just #22 on defending spot ups by allowing 0.98 PPP, the Nets have everything to have a great outside shooting night! Without available SF's, the Nets will be using a small lineup, while the Grizzlies will respond with Gasol in the center position and then Conley, Allen, Mayo and Gay at the same time. I expect a good offensive game from both teams and so, I'll take the over in here.
