The Sixers are coming from a game where they defended well the #2 offense in the league by holding them to 78 points. hey made Blake Griffin use 19 shots to score 14 points. They held Chris Paul to 4 assists. They did all of that, and absolutely, positively pissed the game away on the offensive end! They completely stopped the Clippers perimeter offense, but as the Clippers were also on bounce back mode, they also stopped the Sixers offense. Philadelphia had little inside game and little chances to use their great transition game: 1-4 FG! For today, Philadelphia will be in full bounce back mode!
On the other side, Cleveland will be a tough spot, as they will play their 4th game in 5 games, having played last night a game against the Bucks, where they went to overtime. Cleveland had a good offensive game and took advantage of the pathetic defensive game of the Bucks: 17-28 FG at the rim + 11-21 FG from 3-9 feet, while allowing the Cavs to shoot 10-13 FG in transition with 1.44 PPP! However, with the OT, Jamison played 44 minutes, Gibson 42 minutes and Sessions 45 minutes. Today, these three players will struggle. Jamison will have problems because he made a huge effort last night and he will have a physical battle against Brand, while Gibson and Sessions will face the best perimeter defense in the league! Varejao played just 20 minutes yesterday and the Cavs lost clearly the boards battle (23.9 vs 30.2 offreb/rates) and with him injured and out of this game, Cleveland loses most of their rebounding skills, one of few areas where they could bring problems to the Sixers tonight.
I expect Philadelphia to bounce back big time today and have a very comfortable win over the shorthanded Cavs. I also believe in a full defensive lockdown from the Sixers top defense to the Cavs offense and so, I'll take the under in here in a Double Dime Play!
