NBA Premium Play 02/16: Bocton Celtics @ Chicago Bulls

NBA - 703 Boston Celtics @ 704 Chicago Bulls

Projected line: 173 points | Chicago by 12 points

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

Chicago is coming from a close win against Sacramento at home, where their defense and rebounding was just horrible! They allowed 17 offensive boards to the Kings and their transition defense was basically non-existent! Sacramento scored 17 fast break points in the game, while shooting 8-12 FG in transition! I believe coach Thibs will focus a lot on these two areas for today's game, as their loss at Boston last Sunday was exactly thanks to a poor transition defense from the Bulls once again. Boston won the game by 95-91, while shooting almost 50% FG (49.3%), something unusual for the Celtics, who have been quite inconsistent on offense. The biggest problem was Rondo, with his mega triple double of 32pts 15ast and 10reb, while shooting 11-22 FG and 10-13 FT! The most ridiculous was how the Bulls defense handled Rondo and Boston's offense, as the Celtics scored a ridiculous 33 fast break points, while shooting 13-14 FG in transition! Rondo also shot 7-11 FG at the rim, as a team the Celtics shot 16-21 FG at the rim! Considering we are talking about the best defense in the league, these were completely ridiculous numbers of the Bulls defense.

But if we take a look at the first game of the season between these two teams, Boston scored 4 fast break points, while shooting 3-7 FG in transition and 13-20 FG at the rim. Besides the natural adjustment that the Bulls defense will make on tonight's game, Boston will be playing on a back to back spot, after losing against Detroit last night at home, where four of their starters played more than 30 minutes and even though Rondo shot 15-27 FG on a 35 points performance, the Celtics still couldn't score more than 88 points against the poor defense of the Pistons! The truth is that on back to back games, Boston is averaging a pace of 87.7, offensive rates of 100.7 and defensive rates of 93.8! The pace of the first two games between these two teams were 80.6 and 93.2! Today's game will surely be more similar to the first game than last Sunday's game, as not only Chicago will surely improve on their transition defense, as the Celtics will also be on a tougher spot. Therefore, I expect this game to have a playoff game mentality between two very good defensive teams and so, I came up with a totals projection of 173 points for this contest, good enough for me to take the under in here in a Double Dime Play! I'll be also taking Chicago on this contest, as I expect them to get revenge over the Celtics tonight, while getting a very comfortable win in the process.
