offense has been really well lately, as their offensive rates in their
last 4 games have been 122.23, 110.72, 113.33 and 113.68, with 0.49,
0.49, 0.48, 0.56, 0.53 and 0.61 eFG% in their last 6 games.Yesterday at
Detroit, the Grizzlies didn't even need to shoot from the outside.
Memphis put pressure on the ball handler and the result was the
expected: 14 steals, which originated 25 turnovers for Detroit, with
Memphis taking advantage of that with 9-13 FG in transition! The
Grizzlies are really in great form right now!
Sacramento is coming from a super win at San Antonio last night,
where the Spurs simply failed on the outside with 4-16 FG from 16-23
feet and 5-25 3pts! That's 9-41 FG from the outside! On the other side,
the Kings had a good interior game with 16-23 FG at the rim, which are
normal numbers taking in account the bad rim defense of the Spurs. This
time, they weren't hopeless from the outside, but still 5-21 3pts shows
that they are still struggling from the outside. As usual, San Antonio
didn't pressure the ball handler and Sacramento committed just 14
turnovers, which is an excellent mark for them.
These two teams have already faced each other this season and
Memphis already without Randolph and with Conley banged up won by 17
points! This win was easy to explain: Memphis scored 72 points in the
paint by taking advantage of the Kings pathetic rim defense that allows
70% FG at the rim! They also scored 21 fast break points, had 14 steals,
with the Kings committing 19 turnovers! For today, we have both Evans
and Thornton coming from a game where they played more than 40 minutes
and against a super aggressive defense of the Grizzlies, this is a
receipt for turnovers! Yesterday, San Antonio struggled because they
couldn't hit their outside jumpers, but Memphis doesn't even need to
shoot from the outside, as they will dominate the paint tonight with
easy baskets! Meanwhile, the Kings will struggle from the outside as
always and their interior game won't be good enough to compensate that,
especially against a decent interior defense like the Grizzlies.
Therefore, I will be taking Memphis tonight, as I believe they will
win this game very easily tonight. Considering the Grizzlies current
form on offense and Sacramento's somewhat decent interior game, I came
up with a totals projection of 193 points, high enough for me to take
the over in here as well.
