HOU defeated POR on POR’s own game by outshooting them from the outside w/ 16-33 vs. 8-25 from POR. Curiously, HOU’s original game plan was to attack POR’s poor interior defense as their first 3 FGM’s were all easy shots at the rim, POR defense was forced to collapse in order to prevent HOU’s easy pts down low, and that opened HOU’s 3pts shooters that torched POR all night long. Despite being shorthanded on the front as Asik, Smith and Jones didn’t play; HOU completed dominated the boards w/ 57% reb/rate%! POR is one of the best midrange shooting teams in the league but ended the game shooting just 4-16 FG from 16-23feet. This is the type of game that makes me wondering if POR has a legit shot at winning the West this season.
